[Breakfast is the best] Homemade Cornflakes

Breakfast is my favorite time and by the way the most important meal of the day!! Is there anything better than sitting in the morning sun with a big cup of coffee or tea in your hands and thinking about how to make it the best day? I think you can just make it even more perfect by pairing your favorite drink with a big bowl of homemade Cornflakes with ice cold milk and fresh fruit!

HOMEMADE CORNFLAKES

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 50 g cornmeal
  • 100 g water
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  • pinch of salt
  • optional: vanilla sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix together 60 g water with the oil and put in a pan on medium heat.
  2. Whisk together the cornmeal and salt. Sift the cornmeal-salt mix in the pan. Important: cover the pan all over. Sprinkle the vanilla or vanilla sugar and the rest of the water (40 g) over the mix.
  3. Wait until most of the water has evaporated and you can see that the surface starts to crackle. Now take a spatula and start to scrape the bottom of the pan until the flakes start coming off the bottom and flip them until they dry out. You can decide if you want to have big or small chunks by breaking them in parts.
  4. Serve with milk and fruit. Makes one portion.

Recipe Notes

Note: If you prefer thin and crispy flakes, do the following steps two times with half of the ingredients. If you want thicker flakes do it in one batch, like I did it

So, start your day with breakfast!
